When does the nomination window open and close?
The nomination window for the 2018 McGraw Prize opens on September 25, 2017, and closes on November 17, 2017, at 11:59 PM (EST).

What are the categories that nominations are being accepted for?
There are three categories for the 2018 Prize: Pre-K–12 Education, Higher Education, and Learning Science Research.

Who can submit a nomination?
Those nominating must be at least 18 years old at the time they cast a nomination. There are no other requirements.

Is there an entry fee to nominate someone for the Prize?
There is no entry fee. It is free to cast a nomination.

Can I nominate myself?
Yes. Self-nomination is permitted.

Can I submit an international nomination for any of the Prize categories?
Yes. All categories are open to both domestic and international nominations.

Can I submit multiple nominations?
Yes. You may nominate multiple individuals for the Prize—either as a pair or separately.

Can I nominate someone in multiple categories?
Nominate individuals in the category that best suits his or her work. The categories are designed in a way that eligibility for multiple categories would be unlikely. The selection team also reserves the right to move the nominee into a different category, should it be at the advantage of the nominee.

Can I nominate someone who was nominated in prior years?
Yes. Past nominees are eligible for resubmission.

Can I nominate someone anonymously?
All nominations are done anonymously, as we do not disclose who the nominator is when we notify the nominee of their nomination. It is your choice to let the nominee know you have nominated them.

Who is ineligible to be nominated for the Prize?
Employees of Arizona State University and McGraw-Hill Education are ineligible to be awarded the Prize, and should not be nominated.

Can we save our nomination prior to submitting and complete it at a later time?
No. The nomination must be completed in one sitting. We recommend writing all your responses in a separate document, then copying them into the portal when you are ready to submit.

Is it possible to edit the application after it has been submitted?
No. It is not possible to alter a nomination that has been submitted, but you can email info@mcgrawprize.com if you need to correct or supply any additional information.

How long should my responses be for the open-ended prompts?
Responses to the prompts should be a minimum of 200 words and a maximum of 500 words. The portal is programmed to ensure these parameters are met.

Can I submit supplemental material (i.e., CV or resume) for consideration?
Yes. If you would like to submit additional information for consideration, please utilize the final prompt on the form, "Is there anything else you would like the jurors to know?" Doing so, however, will not necessarily provide any sort of additional advantage during the selection process.

When will the winners be announced?
The 2018 McGraw Prize winners will be announced in Spring 2018, and be recognized during the ASU GSV Summit in San Diego, California, from April 16-18, 2018.

What do the winners of the Prize receive?
The winners will each receive a $50,000 award and the bronze Prize sculpture.

Do finalists for the Prize receive anything?
No. Finalists will not receive anything at this time.

Will finalists for the Prize be announced?
No. Only the winner of each category will be announced.
